THE ONTARIO TEACHERS' PENSION PLAN & THE CLIMATE CRISIS

Hosted by climate and energy experts from Shift Action for Pension Wealth and Planet Health, join working and retired teachers from across Ontario to learn how you can take action on the climate crisis while protecting your pension savings.

This is a free online workshop for members of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, the $228 billion pension fund for 331,000 working and retired Ontario teachers.

The workshop will:

  • inform teachers about the urgency of the climate crisis and the concept of carbon lock-in;

  • explain to teachers why the investment decisions of the $228 billion OTPP matter for the climate crisis;

  • describe the financial risks of climate change to teachers' pensions;

  • provide a summary of the progress the OTPP is making in managing these risks, and an overview of its risky investments in fossil fuels and other high-carbon projects and companies;

  • show how teachers have the power to take action and demand better from their pension fund managers.

Join us on Tuesday, November 30, from 8:00 pm -9:30 pm ET.

Free on Zoom
